Short Memoir: How to Write Your Own Story
with Ainsley Hawthorn
Do you wish you could capture your memories in writing? This two-hour workshop will give an introduction to short-form memoir, also called personal essay or narrative essay. Whether to publish or simply to share with loved ones, you’ll learn how to jog your memory, reconstruct dialogue, and structure your story.

Shadow Puppet Workshop
with Jamie Skidmore
In this shadow puppet workshop participants will take images from home (“home” in this case being the island of Newfoundland) in order to create characters, scenery, and props. Specifically, we will take inspiration from nature, such as a puddle, a shadow, a tree, a plant, or from a map, and create characters and places for the shadow puppets to exist.

Netting Workshop
with Lauren Brinson
I want to implement an aspect of community engagement as research to inform the
creation of the completed artwork as well; to invite stories from people in the area about
net making in their families; to share nets, or tools that have been passed down or found
as a way of sharing and rooting a shared practice to the community.

Corner Brook Cloud Co.
with Patricia Gora
It’s time to swap our paper mill for a cloud factory. We will be reimaging the mechanics and exterior of Corner Brook’s very own “cloud machine” and illustrating how the constant stream of steam puffs fluffy clouds into the sky. Using POSCA paint markers we are going to animate our hometown.

Mobile Press Print Party
with St. Michael's Printshop
Mobile Press Print Party will focus on community participation through a live printing event with the SMP mobile press; building new and existing relationships with the local community in and surrounding Corner Brook. Participants will engage with the print process while exploring the theme of Home.

Broken Cat Alley Cat
with Corner Broken Spoke
An alley cat is part bicycle race, part scavenger hunt, and all an excuse to get out to local businesses and see the sites. This informal bicycle race starts when racers receive their manifest and plan their route around the city of Corner Brook to stop at all checkpoints and return to the start on West the fastest. This fun inclusive all ages event can bring not only cycling to diverse groups for a night, but also shows riders the beauty of riding in Corner Brook. A way of literally sharing our Corner Broken Spoke home.
