Lacey Decker Hawthorne is an interdisciplinary artist working in installation, textiles, writing, and research. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, the UK, Japan, and France. She currently lives and works in Sackville, NB, on the unceded lands of the Mi’kmaq peoples.

a labour of stitches connects the traditionally public masculinized labour of work at sea and the historically private feminized labour of sewing and domestic making through two 15-foot quilted sails. Hung back to back, they make an enclosure to stand inside of, recalling travel by sea and travel by night in dreams.
