Mentorship Program 2021
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Corner Brook, the mentorship program is open to middle school and high school students. New this year (2021), our Youth Advisory Committee will lead and coordinate the Youth Mentorship Program.
The CB Nuit mentorship program is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Corner Brook and encourages young artists from all disciplines to apply with a prepared project. Once selected they are mentored by a local, established artist that will best suit the project. This year our Mentor was Mallory Fisher and our Mentee was Jamie S. Merrigan.
Mallory Fisher is a director, playwright, actor, producer, and arts educator from Mount Pearl. Mallory holds a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from the Boston Conservatory and an MFA in Theatre Performance Creation from York University. Their most recent play motherskin was runner-up in the 2020 Wildfire National Playwriting Competition and winner of the 2020 Arts and Letters Competition. They are based in St. John’s and are the current Artistic Director of Shakespeare by the Sea.
Jamie S. Merrigan is a writer, artist and actor living in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. They are currently working towards a BFA in Theatre at Grenfell. When they aren’t working on various projects, Jamie can be found wandering around the woods, reading murder mysteries and taking care of a very spoiled parrot. Jamie's Project for CB Nuit 2021 was titled Presentation.
Project Description:
Everyone has a unique understanding of their own gender experience and presentation. With this podcast I explore my own gender experience and presentation, and how it impacts the way I approach acting. Our virtual gallery is a celebration of the many ways the community expresses and experiences their own gender.
